Bilingual School Social Worker - Camden

Here’s what you need to know:       
KIPP New Jersey is looking for a driven case-manager with a track record of providing direct service counseling, mediation and providing resources to students and families for the 2020-2021 school year. You are passionate about education and understand the importance of coping skills to help student deal with economic, social, emotional or physical challenges that can impact student achievement. You are dedicated to going above and beyond to ensure our
students succeed. 

Must Haves:
  • Must speak Spanish fluently
  • MSW required; LSW or LCSW preferred
  • CSSW certification (must be presently held or obtained prior to start of employment)
  • 1-2 years’ experience in counseling and working with children, adolescents and families
  • Knowledge of community social service resources and how to access them
  • Understanding of current rules and regulations regarding child study teams, special education assessments, and program requirements
  • Unwavering commitment to our students and their success
  • Ability to communicate clearly and to invest stakeholders in student goals
  • Ability to establish relationships with students and families
  • Solutions orientated and ability to bring a new lens to challenging problems
  • A high level of organization skills and attention to detail
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
Joining our schools as a Social Worker comes with the opportunity for significant growth and development  but with great power comes great responsibility. Your role as a social worker will involve a number of responsibilities which will  include but are not limited to: 
  • Serve as a case manager to students with identified special needs as well as for students being referred to the Child Study Team
  • Communicate effectively with parents and all stakeholders involved in the IEP process
  • Use clinical skills to provide group and individual counseling
  • Provide crisis counseling to students and families experiencing mental health and/or social service emergencies
  • Deliver behavior management and de-escalation techniques to create a safe school environment for all students
  • Implement behavior intervention plans and monitor student progress in conjunction with the school support team
